Stomach 36 - (Zu) San Li

“Leg Three Miles” “Leg Three Li” (possibly referring to the practice of moxa on St 36 to increase strength of legs)

Perpendicular 0.5-1.3”, or moxa

Earth Point, He-Sea Point, Sea of Nourishment (Water and Grain), Lower He Sea Point of Stomach, Command Point of Abdomen


* Orders the Spleen and Stomach - Spleen Qi or Spleen Yang deficiency, Spleen cannot control Blood, Lung Qi deficiency, gastric pain, asthma (with Lu 7), edema of limbs, adnominal pain that food does not change, stimulates metabolism with LI 4 or slow down metabolism (reduce LI 4)

* Regulates the Qi and Blood - increases Stomach Qi - dizziness, Liver Blood deficiency, mental disorders, insomnia, visceral hallucinations, Heart Qi deficiency, Heart Blood deficiency, nervousness, allergies, globus hystericus


* Strengthens Weak and Deficient Conditions - general body tonification, general weakness, anemia, hypertension (with LI 11, Sp 6, Per 6), migraine, neurasthenia, anorexia, agitated and emaciated, tinnitis, eye diseases, general nervous system disorders, cholera

* Treats Diseases of the Reproductive System - early menses due to deficiency, leukorrhea due to deficiency, amenorrhea (with Sp 6), difficult labor, uterine prolapse

* Eliminates Wind and Damp of the Four Limbs - whole body paralysis, hemiplegia, infantile convulsions, shock, syncope, Damp arthritis, beriberi, edema around the ankles, edema and urinary retention (with Sp 6)

* Removes Cold in the Stomach and Abdomen - vomiting (with Per 6 & Ren 12), invasion of Spleen by Liver, abdominal distention, Gan Syndrome, indigestion, gastritis, borborygmus, food retention, morning sickness, vomiting and diarrhea in children, indigestion in infants, flatulence, gastritis, hiccough, hiatal hernia (Tan) 

* Disperses Heat of the Stomach and the 6 Fu Organs - Hot type diarrhea, constipation (with TH 6), constipation with rectal distention, dysentery, gastritis with vomiting and diarrhea (with Ren 12)mastitis, peptic ulcers, enteritis, pancreatitis, appendicitis, Yin Jaundice, difficult urination (with Sp 9 & Ren 9), nocturnal enuresis, enuresis, loss of urine, anuria, pain and distention in the lower abdomen, insufficient lactation

* Clears Obstructions in the Channels - aching knee joint and leg, wrist pain, hernia, releases m. Tibialis anticus causing pain in the Great Toe, 2nd toe and at St 41 area, sinus pain or infection (with LI 20)
